I'm working on a complete clean/refresh of a B&W G3 that I recently picked up. Anyone confirm whether the proc on this machine uses thermal paste?

I took the heatsink off and it looks like there was residue at some point, but the black square on the bottom of the heatsink is giving me second thoughts.

The black square is an aluminum thermal pad. They are very difficult to remove. I usually put a thin layer of thermal paste over the black thermal pad and put the heatsink on.

I've been able to remove the stock thermal pads with relative ease using some acetone and a bit of scrubbing. G3s and early G4s don't really put out much heat at all though. As long as the stock pad is in good condition, I usually just re-use them.
