Hello, I hope somebody can help me with this issue.
I have recently got a Powermac G3 beige minitower 266mhz.

It has a hdd with scsi connected to a pci card. This scsi connection looks different then the scsi connection on the motherboard, that is more like a wider ide connection. This hdd has macos9 on it but with alot of crap and want to reinstall it. In macos 9 the cdrom drive works and I can open disks. But booting from a disk (os9 install) disk is not possible. Also in the startup settings when I select it has to boot from cdrom it doesn't work. I see that the cdrom drive is not orginal. It has no apple logo.

But what I have tried:
I have disconnected everything I don't need. Floppy, zipdrive, ide and scsi hdd, disconnected scsi pci card. Just to see if it will boot from cd.
But it doesn't work, I only get the pc icon with question mark.
I replaced the pram battery with a new one and did a few resets.
I replaced the cdrom drive with a few other ide drives I have here also tried it with a powermac g4 quicksilver ide drive on which I installed os9 with in that machine but in the g3 it won't boot.
I tried removing the ram and boot with only 1 stick, but still the same.

What can I still try to boot from cd?
Hope somebody can help me.

Solved it myself. It was a disk issue. Strange because it worked in the os itself but was not bootable it seems. Downloaded and burned a new image somewhere and now it works.
