PowerMac G4 and Duoconnect USB card

I have a PowerMac G4 dual 1.42 GHz and installed an Adaptec Duoconnect Firewire/ USB 2.0 card. After installation, sometimes the computer would not go to sleep or wake up properly. I upgraded from Panther to Tiger today and now it won't sleep at all. When I removed the card, the sleep function worked fine.
Has anyone ever had this problem before? Does anyone have another brand USB 2 card in their PowerMac that functions properly?
