I have the opportunity to pick up a used G4 DP 1Ghz Super Drive MDD model for little cash and was wondering is this still a productive machine for light video editing etc. maybe some Photoshop stuff. The machine was a family computer which was only used for email and surfing and is in mint condition.

Thanks

If it's one of the models with a 1MB L3 cache (I think it is), then yes that's a heck of a find.

Might be a loud computer but you can find after market replacement fans.

Hell yeah, a buddy of mine just sold his last week for an upgrade. He was happilly editing video on it with FCP and doing a lot of web and Photoshop work. He just fell into some money so decided to upgrade. They're still great machines considering you can probably throw 4x750GB drives in them and all...
