I know that the Powermac G4 PSU's have issues, so I want to change it to an ATX PSU. I have looked online, and I am confused! I can't find a simple diagram! I know that you cut off the motherboard wires from the old psu and solder them onto the new ATX psu, but do they match up easy, or do you have some wires left unused or end up soldering 2 into one socket? I really don't want a fire, so could someone please help me!!!

The owner of this site makes money selling the ATX cables he shows on his site. Personally, I'd rather just put down the money for a cable from someone who's done this a few times. That's my plan when I finally get my own ATX PSU sometime soon for my Quicksilver.

That is beyond legendary. For the rest of my life I will never be able to thank you to the degree you deserve!

Nice one!

Would the Corsair VS450 work fine?

You're welcome, glad I could help.

As to the PSU, I can't say. All I have done is the research so far on locating pre-made cabling. In the next month or so I should be able to invest in an ATX supply (right now I'm looking at a 700W+ PSU) but I won't really know until everything aligns.

This would be my first mod of this type. But I found this guy because I just do not want to make my own cable and find out I blew everything up.

I have gone through all the instructions and it all seems simple enough, but it would be cool to buy the one of the site, but they only ship to America. How do I go about this? It would help me a lot but they don't seem to ship to the UK?

The OP has an MDD, so I linked to the adapter for the MDD. But if you glance in the navigation bar of the site you'll see the G3 and other G4 models.

Unfortunately, while the site does sell the adapters, it seems they only ship to US locations.

The bottom link has adapters for the Blue and White G3, Sawtooth, Yikes, Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Audio, Quicksilver, and MDD.
Ahh, oops, MisterKeeks already mentioned that. Sorry!
