Hello there,

I am a owner of a g4 Power mac the gigabite ethernet version. I have installed a new mobo and it now will not start. The fans stay on and i runs as normal, but there is nothing on the screen totally black, boot sound does not sound.

Any ideas ? I have also reset the PMU but clicking the button.

Thanks in advanced to any replys

Did you make sure all connections are secure?

You could have gotten another bad board or perhaps it is your CPU that is actually dead.

Also did you check all of the rails on your powersupply? You could have a bad line. Although you may get some action from pressing the powerbutton the computer would be unable to boot.

Gigabit G4 Pinout

Hmm last time it was not booting at all it would run the fans for 4 - 5 secs max then cut out. It now runs fans full way and keeps going but we get no chime or anything on the screen.

Can you hear the hard drive accessing for a while like Mac OS X is booting? When the case is open.

Could just be a bum board. I had one fail (glass of water:mad:) where the fans still spun up. No beep or anything beyond that though.
