My father was away in MN and bought a used Powermac g4 400mhz/320mb/30gig/DVD/ZIP
He'll have it home for me next friday. My question was how do I tell by these specs if its a Yikes or Sawtooth and also was what he paid for it ($62.00) a good deal on something this old. Also are there CPU upgrades for it maybe that take beyound a Ghz.

That is still a good computer for many tasks. I use an upgraded Sawtooth for most of my work to this day.

The Yikes PM G4s have a PCI video card and the Sawtooth use AGP. When you get the computer check the System Profiler and you can see which one you have. The Yikes and Sawtooth each had 400 MHz models. Given the 30 GB HD and DVD player, I'm thinking your machine is going to be a Sawtooth. Regardless, $62 is a great deal for that machine.

I upgraded my Sawtooth with a 1 GHz CPU from OWC (macsales.com), RAM, and a Superdrive and it is respectable given its age.
