hi all ,

looking for a comparison between my 12" powerbook g4 1.33 768mb and the single G5 1.8ghz with 1gb.

i will be ordering the G5 tonight with apple and want some real life comments from you lot.

things i do :

iMovie Share to H.264 HD 720 about 5 min takes about 30-40 min on my Powerbook.

DVD backup - mactheripper = DVD can be 1.5 X the length of the movie

iMovie - import quicktime files - say 30mb takes, well takes long time

mutitaskin - iMovie is exporting and i have itunes open and Safari is browsing the web - my Powerbooks fans will be at full pelt and i can almost fry and egg on it - whats the G5 like with this sort of CPU useage?

what other issues are there with the single G5 1.8 ? if any that is

o and many of you will say why the single ? well apple have it on the refurb for £699 and i have phoned apple up and they say they will do it with 1gb and 160gb hdd for £679 :)
