Hello folks (I hope I'm not boring people with this...lol)
Well as you may have read it looks almost certain that the system board on my 2.3GHz G5 is faulty as I get no more than a few minuets boot when it feels like it and it locks up and will only boot to black screen.
I managed to pick up a G5 2.5GHz (water cooled) system for a song that "does not power up at all" me thinking I could swap PSU's and make a living machine...alas the 2.3GHz has a 450w PSU and the 2.5GHz has a 600w PSU another rookie mistake but there are a number of positives so far...being that I paid only thirty pounds for the 2.5GHz box.
It has the Airport card installed so that's twenty to thirty I don't need to spend as I didn't have one....it's got a SuperDrive fitted...another say twenty pounds I can recoup by selling my spare on eBay and the case is in much better condition...my 2.3GHz having a buckled frame/door.
The processor has never been removed (or only under warranty) as the plastic Gromit/pin was still in situ...There has been zero leakage from the water cooled CPU...so the unit is stripped and cleaned....the PSU is awaiting repair and rework so I will keep you update as long as you've not fallen asleep yet....lol.
