I press the power button and it makes a "clicking" noise and then turns right off. The light comes on for maybe a second during this and then goes blank again.

I unplugged the machine for awhile and tried again, but no go. Tried switching out lets too just in case.

I usually just put it to sleep at night and wake it up in the morning with a tap of the spacebar. We have been out of town for a week, if that matters at all.

Probably need to get it in, eh?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like something for the apple store techs to deal with. Sorry, not really sure what could have gone wrong.

If you want to try something before dragging it somewhere for someone to check you may want to try changing the battery on the motherboard. I haven't had to change the battery in my G5 but my G4 died once and it was the battery. If you left the G5 unplugged I think it just may be the battery because that is exactly what happened to my G4.
