Hi, I just bought a G5. Its 2.0 DP that is supposedly working according to seller. When I got home I tried turning on the pc. When I press the button there is the chime and after a few seconds fans start running at full speed and there is folder icon on screen. I tried with different hard drive that is known to work and the same thing happens again. I dont have the original keyboard. I tried reseting nvram but nothing happened so I dont know if I was succesful at reseting it... So does anypne know what could have happened to G5?

A flashing folder icon means it can't find a drive or partition to boot from.
You said you tried a different hard drive. Is it partitioned correctly (APM) and does it have a compatible version of Mac OS X installed on it?

yes, i tried a different hard drive that works in friends G5. So I think that should work. From one G5 to another. Didnt mentioned before but I bought two G5. 2.7 and 2.0. 2.7 has leaked so I tried that hdd and nothing
Was it the regular POST startup chime? Is there any beeping? Is the LED flashing at all? How. much RAM is installed and is it all installed correctly?
And depending on which OS was installed on the one that you bought, it isn't necessarily guaranteed that another HDD from a G5 would work depending on the OS installed on it.
I'm saying this as a previous owner of PMG5 Quad and a PMG5 2.3. I have also owned numerous PowerBooks, iBooks, PM G4s and a couple of PPC Mac minis.
