powermac power supply

If i plug in a powermac g5 power supply should the fans on it come on? Do they come on and stay on or are they controlled based on temp? im trying to figure out how to test one to see if it is good but so far cannot seem to find anything on how to test them.

If the machine is turned on, then yes the fans will be running. Only their RPM is temperature controlled.

so when i plug the power cable into power supply then the fans on the power supply should come on? just to clarify.

im trying to figure out if that is a valid test to the power supply being good or not.
