I was shown an example of this generated in a previous version of Powerpoint – a custom vector border with a transparent center (ie. not a basic shape the powerpoint can replicate), where the items behind can be select through the "hole". My client wants to be able to replace the objects (an image) behind without moving the border. He's using 2007.

I've tried bring shapes in from Illustrator by copy and paste. This works well, but Powerpoint treats the whole shape a one object. I've also tried exporting from Illustrator as both enhanced Metafile and Windows Metafile.

Anybody have to do something like this before?
