PPC G5 - What RAM?

Hi everyone,

I had a look at the RAM buying guide (and did a quick search of these forums) but am still a little confused.

I would like to install more RAM in my G5. What type of RAM do I buy? I have a Dual 2 GHz G5 (I think it's from 2005 - but I just can't remember which model - dual core I think).

I've attached screenshots for more info.

I'm confused because it appears that my computer is using the PC2-4200 DDR2 RAM (as outlined for the dual core in the macrumors RAM buying guide), but it also has eight slots (not the "4 slots max" as stated in the guide) of the Dual - processor G5.

Would really appreciate some advice on this.

The fact that you have DDR2 running in it means you have the Single Processor, Dual Core 2.0 from Late 2005. These had 8 slots of ram.

The Late 2005's were the only that allowed the use of DDR2. You should be safe purchasing it.

You have the dual core 2.0 ghz. I have the same logic board, 8 ram slots. Must install in pairs starting from middle going outwards. It can take up to 16gb maximum. There are available 4 gb ram DDR2 PC4200 - 2 x 2gb pairs. RAM freq is 533MHz.
