While doing trouble shooting on a newly acquired dual 1.8 G5 I got tired of constantly swapping cd / dvd's, plus the Leopard install was from another machine and wasn't exactly stock. So I decided to take a break from
and build a PPC Utility & Test HD.
Grabbing an unused 670 GB drive I created 5 partitions. The first 3 are 'restores' of DMG files. The other 2 should be self explanatory.
Partition 1: 1 GB contains a copy of the "Apple Service Disc 2.5.8"
Partition 2: 6 GB contains a copy of the "TechTool Pro 4.6.1 Universal Boot Disc"
Partition 3: 9 GB contains a copy of the "Leopard OS X Install DVD"
Partition 4: 342 GB contains a clean copy of Leopard 10.5.8
Partition 5: 342 GB contains DMG's of Leopard updates versions 10.5.6 & 10.5.8
With this new HD installed I'm able to boot my weapon of choice using only the alt/option key. Headache's gone, back to trouble shooting
