I just added some pqi memory to my duo core 2ghz g5. I added 2gb of ddr 2 4200 3-3-3-8 and 2 more gb of 5400 4-4-4-12. Then I check the profile, here are the number I got:

Size: 1 GB
Type: DDR2 SDRAM
Speed: PC2-4200U-444
Status: OK

DIMM1/J6800:

Size: 1 GB
Type: DDR2 SDRAM
Speed: PC2-4200U-444
Status: OK

DIMM2/J6900:

Size: 1 GB
Type: DDR2 SDRAM
Speed: PC2-3200U-288
Status: OK

DIMM3/J7000:

Size: 1 GB
Type: DDR2 SDRAM
Speed: PC2-3200U-288
Status: OK

The 4200 are the first 2 and the 2nd 2 gb are the 5400 with higher latency. What does this all mean? Am I messing up the computer? Lower performance? The reason why they are not the same is becuase I buy the memory when ever there is a sale at Fry's Electronics.

Thanks

Ron

why don't you buy from crucial.com/uk i know it seems expensive but you get what you pay for.

Thank You for your opinion.

You get what you pay for? So does that mean apple memory which is the most expensive is better than crucial?

I usually buy local here in Las Vegas and they sell crucial memory too. I've been using the 2 gb of 4200 since I bought my machine back in october and I've had no crashes or problems.

I was just hoping someone can chime in on this latency and speed difference. I 'm not sure that it all means. I did searches on the net and I just want to see what others think.

What i meant by you get what you pay for from crucial is good ram. As for buying ram from Apple everybody know they charge way, way over the odds. Are you buyint the ram for a G5 or and intel machine?
