This summer I'll be buying a new MacBook Pro. If the 2012 models keep the SuperDrive I'm considering replacing it and adding a second hard drive. A dual-SSD software RAID-0 is my ideal setup. But, before I get my heart set on this I'd like to get some questions answered.

1. The SSD model I'm currently looking at is the Intel 520 (SandForce 2200 controller). Will this model have any issues being put into RAID-0? SandForce SSDs have built in trash collection, so TRIM isn't an issue. Is the Intel 520 a good choice for what I have in mind?

2. What will be the performance gains from a dual-SSD software RAID-0 setup over a single SSD (1x240 GB Intel 520 vs. 2x120 GB Intel 520)? A single Intel 520 is capable of 550 MB/s read. Will two be capable of 1 GB/s read?

3. Will I have trouble enabling RAID-0 and will I have trouble upgrading/installing new operating systems?

If there's a useful thread on this subject that I've missed, please post a link. If you have experience with this kind of setup, please let me know how it works. Let me know what you think, thanks!
