Is there a need to automatically reset PRAM when installing a new SSD. I don't think so, but I'd like to be sure. Thanks.

Actually, it's NVRAM on Intel Macs, and there's no automatic reset.

As NVRAM contains your startup disk selection, it's probably a good idea.
