Should I trade in my 15 Pro to Apple pre announcement? I have an iPhone 13 I can use for a few weeks till the 17 is out.

I’m not sure how much value drops after the product announcement or if it is already baked in.

I’m quite sure it’s going to drop right after the announcement. I didn’t think to trade mine in for a gift card and use my 12PM for a few days until preorder and delivery day of my 17PM. Right now I can get $600 for my 15PM.

Depends where you’re trading in. If you want to go through Apple, I’ve found their trade in (and sometimes layered cellular) incentives make it worthwhile to just wait. Plus, it’s low friction and avoids the hassle of juggling intermediate solutions or dealing with third parties.

But if you’re trying to maximize raw trade in value and are going some other route, starting the trade in process now and locking in your value makes sense. Depending how quickly you need to send it in, you could potentially receive your new iPhone before needing to send in your current one.

Yes I have a 15PM and a 15P which I can trade in. Thinking of doing both.

When you refer to layered incentives do you mean from the top 4 networks (Verizon, ATT, TMO and Sprint)? I am with Visible and I find that these MVNO carriers like Visible and USMobile don't have these amazing incentives on trade-ins.

Unless you are saying Apple may have an offer?

Most places do a two week price guarantee so book it now and wait.

I watched this closely last year and by ordering day (may have even been on announcement day?) Apple dropped their trade in prices. But there were third party companies that didn't drop the trade in value.

With Apple if you go and look what a 14Pro is right now that is probably what the 15Pro will drop to on Friday.

Right ?

I have Visible and love it but never see a deal to keep me "locked" in with Visible.

I end up trading in at Apple (either in person or by mail).

This is because I leverage the 24 months at 0% interest using the Apple Card.

A couple of weeks ago I went to the Apple store an traded in an Apple Watch 9 (I had 2 10s and the 9) and an iPad Mini 4 we were no longer using and got gift cards. They told me I was smart to do this ahead of time since the values will definitely drop after the 9th of September. I only have the one phone a 15pm so will wait to trade in unfortunately expect it to drop quite a bit.

I locked in the trade in values yesterday before the trade in dropped today. Now to be able to order on Friday, should I go to the Apple Store to trade it in and get the gift certificate in advance?
