Apple offered pre-approval to the iPhone upgrade program customers ahead of the iPhone 8. OP is questioning if the same conditons will apply to the iPhone X.

I see, so its related to their upgrade program. I'm not in it, so I had no idea about those details.

Yep, the whole point is to get as much busy work off the servers and out of the way in advance. All the credit checks and other load that happens at 12:01 PT is what causes problems. (I had to try my VzW access twice last night for a new IUP account, since even that was overloaded...)

They are still learning how to expedite things for the IUP, and it seems to be working... do things ahead of time, let us get home delivery (send the returned phone back, not in store, unless you want to do it there...).
