Hello,

I'm about to buy a MacBook Pro. I'm also thinking of buying Aperture and Filemaker Pro, but I don't know whether to get them pre-installed or buy the boxes at an Apple store... assuming I can buy them at the store.

What would you do?

Is there a price difference?

Do you get a disk and a hard copy manual if you opt for pre-installation?

Is there a manual in the box, or is it only available in downloadable pdf?

Many thanks,

John

They dispatch quicker if you don't ask for pre-installed software (other than Mac OS of course). Getting software pre-installed adds 2-3 days onto the dispatch time.

Not sure if they provide boxes and manuals though. But they do provide the discs if you need to re-install.

EDIT: On the plus side, pre-installed software is slightly cheaper than buying boxed. If you do want to buy boxed, don't get it from Apple. Try getting it from somewhere like Amazon where you can usually get it a bit cheaper.

I wouldn't preinstall it, it would be much wiser to purchase through another site (Like Amazon) because you save money PLUS you get to keep the box and manuals.
