When I bought my 5s I waited in line at the Apple Store on launch day, used my AT&T upgrade, and traded in my 4s for an on-the-spot $200 credit, which mostly offset the upgrade cost. Things are a little different now that Apple can't do two year upgrades for AT&T (without Next, which I'm not interested in), so I'm going to be buying the phone outright. My question:

Can I preorder then show up at the Apple store, do the trade-in, and have the price adjusted? Or does the preorder charge your CC at the time of order, and if I were to show up at the Apple store would they just give me a $X credit instead of adjusting the price, which has already been charged?

(And yes, I know I can sell via Craigslist but in my experience it's always a PITA and the price offered by Apple wasn't dramatically less than what people were charging on CL in my area, no dealing with overly picky buyers, etc.)
