Pre-Order from Apple or Verizon?

Planning on pre-ordering the iPhone 5 tonight and was just wondering which retailer would be the best? Is there much of a difference or would it not matter who I order from? Who would be best for possibly canceling an order or returning the phone? The reason I say this is because Sams Club has yet to announce if they will have the phone on launch day like they did last year, but if they do at a later date, like next week, say they will have it on launch day I want to purchase it from them since they waive upgrade fees.
