Pre-order from Apple: signature required?

After pre-ordering my iPhone 4S last night, I was wondering if someone will need to be physically present to sign for it when it is delivered next week. Will someone have to be home, or will the delivery guy leave it on the doorstep?

Also, will they give us tracking numbers when they ship?

Yeah, apparently there is an option to pre-sign when you click on "Account" at store.apple.com.

Unfortunately, the whole "Account" page on apple doesn't work at the moment. Trying to check my order status because I didn't receive an email even though my credit card just got hit.

Yes, you should get a tracking order when it ships. Everything expensive I've ever ordered from Apple was delivered via FedEx and required a signature. But through the Apple website, you can view your order information and should be able to print a form that you can sign and leave on the door, saying that it's ok for FedEx to leave it there. Did that recently with my MBP, then ran home to take it inside the house after I knew it had been delivered
