Amazon has os x 10.5 for pre-sale but is there a way to pre-order with the educational discount?

No. Amazon does not offer educational pricing. When it if available for sale at the Apple store, you will be able to get it though.

darn...i was hoping they'd be able to ship it straight to my dorm room but I don't want to pay the $130...besides I'm a poor college student who is a media arts and design major and really wants leopard lol...i saved up for a year to get my macbook pro

Just wait a day or so and preorder from Apple directly. That the only way to get the discount.

I was wanting Leopard with the edu-discount as well, and ouch! I checked Apple's site this morning and the EDUCATIONAL price was $116!! Wasn't Tiger like $59 or $69??

Panther and Tiger were both $69. Now Leopard is $116. Isn't much point to the education discount anymore. :(

I tried some local schools just to see what came up and it is showing up as $116. It seems strange that some schools are getting it at $69.
