Pre order or stand in line

So I can't decide if I should pre order or stand in line on the 14th. Are the preordered phones shipping on the 14th? Or are they shipping earlier with expected delivery by the 14th?

Why would you want to stand in line to buy something when it could be delivered to your front door?

And please search for the answer to deliver/shipment on the 14th. I'm not a stickler for searching, but seriously, this is the thousandth time. You can even go on Apple.com and it tells you.
