Couldn't I just pre-order the iPhone 6 to my home address, then call UPS/FedEx to hold it at the nearest store instead of putting it on the truck for delivery and just pick it up in the morning when they open? This sounds 20x more efficient than waiting in line for hours at an Apple store to me, has anyone tried this before?

They normally have to make at least one delivery attempt first but UPS mychoice does give you that option
