Pre-order w/ Carrier Switch?

I can't find a direct answer on this. I want to pre-order 4s tonight and switch from ATT to Sprint, am I going to be able to port my current number (ATT) to my wife's plan (Sprint) via pre-order?

I asked Sprint this very same question today. They said most likely not able to port the number at the time of pre ordering, but after you get it they can port the number for you. I'm going to do the same thing.

How can we actually pre-order it then? Doesn't it force you to sign up for a new line upon pre-ordering? Oh, and are you pre-ordering from Apple.com or Sprint.com?

If you plan on switching to sprint, just pre order it with a new account. And if what the above poster said is correct, you can have sprint port the number over once you get the phone.
