Pre-Ordered through Apple, but considering waiting in line?

I've already pre-ordered through Apple, but I wasn't lucky enough to get the 19th.

So... Since I've already pre-ordered, and my contract has been renewed through AT&T on 9/12 - will Apple be able to cancel my pre-order and change my contract renewal date if I'm able to get the phone at my local Apple store?
