Pre-Ordering the iPhone 4S

How exactly does "Pre-Ordering" a phone work? I've pre-ordered multiple games in the past, etc etc.

Im on Verizon, And was thinking to Pre-Order it through Verizon's website. Due to them Overnighting the phone. If I pre-order it, Would they over night it to me, So I get it on Release Date? Or will they send it on the 14th?


OR, Should I order it off Apple's website? Do they Automatically Next-Day ship it?

Hell, Or should I go to a Verizon Store?

My co-worker preordered his iPhone 4 online and got it the day before it was released.

When the iPhone 3GS was released, I had it pre-ordered from the AT&T store and they didn't get mine for two weeks. I ended up just going to an Apple store on release day and picking it up. I've gone with buying from Apple ever since.

I don't know how well Verizon handles it all, but screw the carriers, get it from Apple if you can.
