Instead of trying to order through the Verizon site (or the Apple site), which might be super slow, is it possible to call up Verizon and have them do the pre-order for me over the phone? Thanks.

What's stopping you from calling them directly right now and finding out?

Apple is doing phone pre-orders at 1-800-MY-APPLE.

I just called Verizon. They said they are not allowed to do preorders over the phone and so it must be done through their website.
