Pre-orders ship on the 21st or arrive on the 21st?

I just called Apple and they said you'd get the phone on the 21st.
Called Verizon and they told me that if you order directly through Verizon they ship it on the 21st and you'll get it on the 25th.
Now.. I'm calling Apple back to confirm that as I 100% believe that is NOT the case. It shouldn't matter if you order directly from Apple or Verizon.
From my past experiences you will get the item on the 21st.
When i pre ordered my iphone 4 and 4s they both came the day you were able to go into the apple store and buy it.
Again with my New Ipad (3) it arrived the day it was available at the store.
The main reason for pre-sale is so there isn't a huge line at the stores and also you're guaranteed one. Why would someone want to pre-sale and have to wait past the day then when its available in the stores, then people would just go to the store and try there luck.
So IMO and past experiences you will get your iphone on the 21st.
