pre-paid iPhone

O2 mentioned something about this, but I haven't seen anything similar through AT&T. I just can't afford the thing with a $70/month price tag, but would still like it. Otherwise I'll have to get another one of Verizon's dumb looking phones and pick up an iPod touch.

iphone 3G is not available for pre paid... not as of yet atleast.

AT&T are not doing a Pay and Go option, however I'm sure you'll pick an unlocked iPhone 3G up on eBay about a week after it's launched. You may have to pay a high price tag though.
