Pre-Pay Activation

Hi,

I was just wondering if entering 999-99-9999 for the SSN still works to setup pre-pay. Also, once I have it "activated" do I have to fund my prepay account, or can I just use it as an iPod sans phone?

Will an Apple update ever break this?

If you just want to use it as an ipod just use independence to activate. I used the all 9s thing to set up a prepaid account about 2 weeks ago. But I couldnt say for sure that it still works.
