I need to reinstall mac os x on my computer due to bad blocks I have a lot of 3rd party shareware apps installed I dont feel like typing in every serial number again and re-changing pref again for each application would it work if i copied the pref list for each application from the library folder slap it on a removable drive then when i reinstall the os x and the programs I can just delete the newly made pref files and slap in the old ones? I really dont feel like redoing pref and figuring out all my serials that i forgot!

I don't know about serial numbers but if you copy your ~/Library/Preferences and ~/Library/Application Support folders and copy them back on the new install you should have all your old settings intact.
