Preference Pane Will Not Open 10.7.5

Preference Panes will not open, These include Desktop/Screen Savers; Dock, Security and Privacy, Spotlight, Energy Saver, Keyboard, Mouse, Trackpad, Users & groups and parental controls.

I have tried to remove the preference plists and when I rebooted, the "Finder Quit Unexpected would not close and no reboot until the 2nd time.

Now there is a newly created folder called managed preferences with my name as a sub folder in the library.

I have used disk repair several times and it fixes what it thinks are system preference issues, but to no avail...

and finally, all of this started when I installed protools 10.3.6.... now of which I have completely uninstalled......

Was it all preference panes that would not open or just some of them?

Which plists did you try to remove? Did you try the one for Finder?

The file was called preferences.plist...there is also a preference.plist old listed and preferences.

No backup...IKNOW...stupid....
