preferences won't save

Hi, I'm new to Mac and I have a problem, when i choose my preferences (dock size and magnification, hot corners, screen saver...) they don't seem to be saved. I turned my Macbook off for a few days as I went away, and when i turned it back on all my preferences were back to default settings.

Can you help? It 's no big deal i know, but a bit annoying!

I have a friend who lost his preferences too, he's re-installing the OS as I type, maybe it's the only way to solve it :S just some nasty glitch I guess.

I don't think a full OS install is needed for this. Your pref.interface.plist or dock.plist file might of gotten messed up. Fix your prefs one more time and see if the problem suface again.
