Well Midnight on Saturday would be the 13th so I'm going with Midnight on Friday which is the 12th.

I believe they also moved the pre-order day, which is normally a Friday, out of respect for the 9/11 anniversary.

I severely disagree that they moved the preorder date because of 9/11. iPhones announcements have taken place on Tuesdays. This year it took place, 1 day later on Wednesday due to the American holiday on Monday. This pushed the preorder date back 1 day as well. If we delay items such as iPhones preorders because of 9/11 then the terrorist won. The best way to remember the victims is to proceed with life. Again, the later date isn't because of 9/11 though.

Yeah. We'll agree to disagree. I've never seen Apple start a Pre-order on Saturday. I would bet It's because of 9/11. It's not like Apple need more time to get the word out new phones are coming. . . So why the push back? It's definitely not because of the holiday/late keynote either.

I agree with the 9/11 theory. The internet/social media loves to hate Apple and I could only imagine the 'backlash' for having the apple fanatics in a frenzy over a new iPhone preorder on 9/11
