Preorder iphone 5s with a new contract today?

I'm thinking about signing up with ATT again, I'm currently on prepaid but I need an account to get my microcell working again, and my wife is terrible at reloading our minutes every month so I may just give up and go back to post paid.

If I do a contract let's say today, can they somehow put the phone purchase off until the 5S comes out and I receive one of those?

Pretty sure you have to purchase something to start a new contract, why not just wait until Friday? And to answer the question to your title....you cannot pre order the 5s. It will be released Friday and you can purchase one then. You can also start a contract online while purchasing your 5s.
