I'm sorry if this has already been a thread, but I didn't see any.

This is my first time pre-ordering a new iPhone. For those with experience, would you recommend pre-ordering the new iPhone from Apple.com or through ATT.com for a greater likelihood of receiving on release day?

Does ATT put up the pre-orders right at midnight PST like Apple does?

Thank you.

I use either Apple.com or the Apple Store app. The app is by far the most reliable out of the 2, at least for me.

And I'm pretty sure AT&T starts pre-orders at the same time as everyone else.

You'll be fine either way. Both will deliver on or before the release date. The benefit of ordering directly from Apple is that you can walk in to do an exchange or refund for any reason without any restocking fees.

I'm forced to do it with AT&T since I have a business plan and Apple only deals with personal accounts :(

Apple.com didnt let me down last year so I plan to use that. I may go the app route this time and order it from the comfort of my bed at midnight though.

Always Apple. I try to limit my interaction of cell carriers as much as possible. They already screw you on the bill so I'm not giving them more for the phone as well.

Doesn't really matter. I'll do whichever one works during the pre-order window. Both AT&T.com and Apple.com get hammered.

The app on my iPad worked perfectly during iP5 pre-ordering, when I couldn't even get the Apple Store to work on my computer.

I ordered from AT&T on the last iPhone I bought because store.apple.com wasn't working correctly.

Because you can order it from your house and get it on release day...

Why would I stand in line for hours and hours

Because UPS brings it to you on launch day while you're sitting in your house drinking a cold beer.

That's true. But I the delivery guy doesn't show up until 7pm for me here no matter if it's from amazon or ebay. I want it now and I don't mind waiting a couple of hours for it. I don't go to the huge urban stores. I like the small apple stores out in the suburbs.

I prefer ordering online becuase mr FedEx man comes in the Morning for me and not in the afternoon so I am good, no need to wait in line. Besides I don't think apple ships through UPS anyway.

Oh comes before noon for me. Usually around 10 am

Ditto. I send mine to work for this reason, they deliver to addresses marked as businesses earlier because they're usually only open 8-5. Residential deliveries are later because that's when people are home.

Hmm I might have to do that. I'm going to be at work that day (if released on 20th) so it's either wait in line and then go to work or have it delivered.

Looks like Apple.com by far has majority favor. Thanks for all of the input, guys! Can't wait for all the excitement this week.

I've ordered from both on pre-order day. They both delivered on launch day. The only difference I experienced was that the AT&T order had to be delivered to the billing address. Apple allowed me to ship to a different location which is what I wanted.
