Preorder VZW iPhone via Apple.com & getting phone credit?

Hi guys, I'm planning on preordering a 64gb iPhone 6 plus thru Apple and was wondering if anyone knew how I would present my old iphone 4 to get the $200 credit?

Also, should I be making a VZW account before midnight to ensure a fast order even though I'm currently using sprint service?

Several threads on here about this. Some are saying they've been told you must order through Verizon and some have been told it didn't matter. You have to mail in the phone to Verizon and a couple of weeks later will get a gift card for the $200.

Careful, Verizon back peddled on their $200 dollar promotion.
I just checked, and they will now only give me $73 for my 4s

That is the "normal" trade in. There is a special trade in for the iphone 6 from 9/12 through 9/30 for the $200 deal.
 
Thanks guys. Does anyone have an official ruling on whether you can purchase a new VZW phone/contract thrum apple and still get the $200 promotional credit?
