Preordering from Verizon 4s help?

I've gone through threads for information to my question. So my situation is that I am on my family plan for Verizon. My dad gets discounts off of the data plan because of his work. Obviously, I would get the discounts being under this plan. How would I go about preordering the iPhone 4s for Verizon with the discount?

I'm just iffy on preordering the 4s myself versus having the owner of the plan (my dad) do it.

Pre order the phone through any retailer, and then contact customer service about the discount.
