Preparing for videos

I want to save my videos and photos on my iPhone 15 ProMax. I also want to back them up in iCloud. When I am trying to back them up to a microSD card plugged into my USB-C port on my phone, I get preparing........ This is ridiculous for the amount of time it takes to save them to the card.
