Not necessarily. My Apple Watch Sport shipped and I received it long before my debit card was charged. As a matter of fact, I wasn't charged for my watch until a week later. It took long enough that I was about to call Apple to find out what was going on.

Each banking institution updates it's transactions on their site differently.

True, and mine updates immediately. I did have an authorization, but that was weeks prior to the shipping date that fell off after about three days. There were no new transactions until Apple charged me for the watch after I received it.

I actually saw the charge first and then a while later it went to PFS.

Sadly, I was charged when it was ordered - so already had to pay the bill and still don't have the watch
