Canton, Oh
I am in the process of selling my desktop to go for a 15' 2009-2011 (or 17') MacBook Pro and wanted to check out what my desk'd be like with a laptop on it in desktop mode. I could get used to this, but, the one change I'd make with a MacBook is possibly getting one of those stands for it and using it open, as a second display.
So heres my 15 PowerBook G4 on my desk pushing a big PlayStation TV at 1080p via a DVI to HDMI adaptor.

Absolute low cost tip…I use an old Lincoln Log from my son's old toys under the rear bottom of my 17" Macs. Keeps it elevated and allows good airflow without the bulk of one of those stands while at the same time angling the keyboard towards you. Since it's wood and hexagonal it's pretty much anti-slip.

It also looks kind of cool because no one can really tell unless they look hard under the Mac that there is anything holding the back end up.
