Hello.
What is a proper way to preserve / keep offline copy of the OS X Apps purchased in the Mac App store?
I have found two ways:
1. launch disk util, File, New, Disk Image from Folder, select the application, choose file to be read only and choose destination
2. In the Application folder control click on App and choose compress
I have not tested "recovery" with method 1.
With method 2 I copied the compressed file and uncompressed on another Mac and was asked to authenticate to Mac App store.
What I am trying to accomplish is two things:
1. Start building library of "Install OS X (enter the version here) as I do think it can be helpful when troubleshooting various machines
2. Have a backup of your apps in case they are no longer available to download from the Mac App store.
In a way restore without interaction with the internet and App Store may not be possible as this would make gray area distribution of apps very simple.
