press enter in ichat wont send message!

my buddy just got a new imac. hes trying to type me a message in ichat and he cant just press enter. he has to press shift and enter. anyway to change it so its just enter?

and apparently anything internet based he has to press shift enter. not just enter.it has to be something stupid. he just unboxed it. so i dont get it haha
