Hi and sorry If this is a stupid question, but I just want to be safe. I have a 2019 Macbook Pro and when I clean the exterior of it I apply some pressure on the top lid to clean off the lid smudges, which don't come out with a simple wipe. I always leave the paper cloth that comes with it between the keyboard and screen. Anyway, is it ok to do that or could the pressure lead to some damage or problem in the future?

It depends on how much pressure. A lot of people pick up their laptops by pinching it between their fingers:eek:. Apple must have made it able to at least withstand that kind of pressure.

Have you tried Isopropyl Alcohol? I've used 70% for years to clean laptops, screens, phones and other electronics surfaces. It removes oils real well without much pressure.

Just dampen a cloth (not dripping just damp). Wipe it down. Then dry it with a clean cloth.

I don't use 90% as that is too harsh for some finishes. Apple says 70% alcohol is okay to use.
