So I was wondering if there is any way to prevent accidental name changing of a file (specifically for a file on the desktop).
The way it works normally if a file is selected and you press "return" any text you type after that will be to change the name of the file.

What I want is an extra preventative step to avoid stuff like this happening such as a "click to verify" option.

Do any of you know of any solution?

BTW: My reason for wanting this is because I accident'y changed the name of a drive (with a shortcut on my desktop) which messed with all the software using files in that directory)

Change the permissions to read only, would not do that with a directory or drive name won't be able to save to them then.
