Prevent disc from being ejected on boot

Hello,

I've recently upgraded from Lion to Mavericks, and since then, on the last phase of the boot process, shortly before it's showing the desktop, the disc residing in my drive is being ejected. I don't know, whether this is important, but it's an iMac from 2011, which is affected.

Is there a way to prevent this behaviour?

I'm not sure if this is in the same place on Mavericks as it is on my installed Snow Leopard, but try going to

System Preferences>System>Startup Disk

and selecting the drive you have Mavericks installed on. My guess is that there isn't anything selected there and it's going through all the available drives to find the OS.
